It’s been nearly two decades since Kem exploded on the scene with his debut KEMISTRY. His last three albums were Top 5 Billboard 200 and Top of the R&B charts. Some three million sales later, he has established himself as a prominent voice articulating critical matters of the heart and soul.
Legions of fans fell in love with KEMISTRY. Those same fans will be intrigued by how the artist contrasts that seminal project with LOVE ALWAYS WINS.
As a stylist, Kem hits the sweet spot where rhythm-and-blues, jazz and even contemporary gospel find common ground.
“I don’t see myself as a genre singer,” he says, “but the three great genres of our music are embedded in my DNA. Do I think of myself as a jazz singer? An R&B singer? A singer of sacred songs? Yes, yes and yes. And in any given song I write, all three of those genres—and probably many more–are present.”
A prime example is the title song, “Love Always Wins.” Kem calls it one of the mantras he lives by.
