President of Motown Records Ethiopia Habtemariam, has been named on Billboard’s esteemed list of Women in Music for 2017.

Habtemariam, who is also president of urban music/co-head of creative at Universal Music Publishing Group, is credited for bringing Atlanta label Quality Control Music into the Motown fold, who boasts acts including Migos and Lil Yachty.

Motown remains of the forefront of urban culture with acts including Zaytoven, Chaz French, and Stefflon Don. “Establishing these strategic partnerships is in keeping with Motown’s entrepreneurial legacy, [which is] providing a platform for emerging artists and executives,” she tells Billboard.

Earlier this year, Habtemariam sat on a panel during Advertising Week in NYC to discuss branding in a hip-hop world, mentioning artists such as Lil Yachty who has secured quite a few partnerships in 2017.

Habtemariam has been the president of Motown since 2014, and has previously been featured on Billboard’s “Women in Music” list as well as Billboard’s “40 Under 40” list.
