Singer Kevin Ross is making headlines in the industry! Rolling Stone named Ross one of “10 New Artists You Need to Know Now” last week. The singer/songwriter, known for his viral “90s R&B MashUps,” was recognized by the magazine for his “quiet and bare” sound matched with “immaculate vocals” on his hit single “Long Song Away.”
Compared to R&B veterans such as Babyface and Joe, Ross has blazed his own trail as a young, but respected, artist in the genre. “I am so young for [the Urban AC] format. When anybody sees me, they don’t expect me – it freaks them out. They’re like, ‘What do you know about this?’’ he tells Rolling Stone.
Ross’ lead single from his first album “Long Song Away” topped the Adult R&B charts, peaking at number one, and has held strong on the charts since its debut. His video for the single “Don’t Forget About Me” is also available now on Vevo.
Before signing to Motown as a solo artist, he penned tracks for R&B legends including Johnny Gill and SWV. Ross has opened for Ne-Yo and Maxwell in the past and spent time working with Jamie Foxx in Atlanta before his solo career took off.
