Stefflon Don Lands in the 2018 XXL Freshman Class

By Tristin Marshall

“Hurtin’ Me” singer Stefflon Don makes the 2018 XXL Freshman class list. Don, who is the only woman on the cover, is also only the fourth woman in the magazine’s history to hold a spot on the list.

She is joined by fellow Capitol Music Group artist Trippie Redd, J.I.D, YBN Nahmir, and Ski Mask The Slump God, just to name a few. “Being a 2018 XXL Freshman means a lot, because it means there there’s actually people out here that believe in you” she says in a promo video following the unveiling of the cover.

Stefflon Don joined Motown in 2017 and released the hit single “Hurtin’ Me” featuring French Montana. She has also released the singles “Ding-A-Ling” featuring Skepta and “Senseless” while on the label.

The British singer, rapper, and songwriter was nominated for three MOBO awards in 2017 and won Best Female Act. Stefflon Don and labelmate Migos have also been nominated for the 2018 BET Awards.

XXL is in its eleventh year of releasing the Freshman Class, a coveted list in determining the new generation of hip-hop with the turn of each year. Rich Homie Quan and Lil Yachty have been featured on the list in recent years.
